almost ready...

So yes... I know it has been a while BUT I have gotten myself into a really big project this year yet again.  Mandy and I decided that it was in the gallery's best interest to move into a new space.....so with that said we have been in the construction phase of up fitting a new space that will be even larger than the lovely one that we currently have now.  It's an old Hardware Store which is special to me because my family has always been in that business up until a couple of years back.  May will be our very last month at the "Old Mill" and we will be closing the last week and reopening to our new location early June (or at least that is the plan) on Sunset Avenue downtown Asheboro.  We will be right in the middle of the best street in town!  Public parking will be right in front of our gallery and we will have so much more room to wiggle.

It is extremely bittersweet for us because we put so much hard work into our first space that we hate to let go but the new one will offer lots more room, exposure, art studios space and a dedicated classroom space that we have desperately needed for some time.  It will be double the space that we currently occupy and we can't be more thrilled about the possibilities of bringing more art to Asheboro!

Along with getting everything settled with the gallery I have also accepted to Graduate School and this week will close my first semester.  Summer session will start up in a couple of days or so and I must say that I have actually (a little bit) enjoyed writing so many papers per week (I have been averaging around 4-6).  So this has also taken up a ton of my time.

The whole point to this post is to inform all of you that read or used to read this blog that I soon will be back in my studio for real this time!  Our new space will also be home to my new large studio.  The Sheetrock walls will be going up this week and as soon as the mud work is dry I will be on a painting spree and then moving everything out of my old home studio into the new one!  Since I have been way I have been able to really rest my brain and develop new and fresh ideas that I hope to debut when my etsy shop is once again opened for business.  I really can't wait!  Please pray that everything will fall into place!

Talk with you soon!

taking back my art...

is my main goal this year!

Last year I focused on the launch of the gallery and this year I am going to focus more on my art! I finally got back in the studio last night and was able to get a small panel jumpstarted and a new painting started. I am hoping tonight will be about soldering and getting my studio reorganized.

Loosing my focus was very easy last year and I really let my art slip aside and put a lot of other things first. Sometimes that is okay but now I see that it changed me and has held me back a bit, not to mention that I lost a good year! This year will also be about saying "NO" more and not volunteering so much for things (even though everyone should volunteer more in their communities!).

Mandy and I have been going full steam ahead at the gallery and we have lots of new plans in store. I call the gallery my stress free job. I love to go in there and just relax, do table displays and rearrange everything.

We have a show called "beat the winter blues" coming up this Friday and have had a fabulous turnout of artists. We are now working out the details of the exhibition and what food to serve. I think that it will be a fun night and maybe Friday nights downtown Asheboro will catch on even more!

For tonight I am off to get some coffee and finish some must do projects at home!

My new little project

My new little project, originally uploaded by Amalee.

So....I've been a little busy working hard on my new Gallery! We ( my new business partner Mandy and I) will be opening our doors starting with summer art class for teens, kids and adults in June. We will have a soft opening and then in the Fall kick-off with a grand opening. I'm totally stoked about this adventure and I am even more thrilled that Asheboro will have a new gallery for the local artists. Our location is great because we are housed in an old mill that has been renovated. We are also right beside the Farmer's Market (its in our parking lot), plus beside the most fabulous resturant in town called Timothy's. We could not be more thrilled!

taking turns

I've been taking turns in new directions. I've switched some stuff around and my blog and etsy shop have been put on the back burners. Hopefully this week everything will be in place and I can return back to my glass. I did do a couple of show over the weekend...

I want to thank everyone who visited me at either Art on Sunset or Spring Bada Bing. Everyone was so nice and I truly appreciate all the support! The weekend was long but totally worth the packing, unpacking and driving. Richmond is such a lovely place and I desperately want to go back and explore some more!

The Richmond Craft Mafia did such a fabulous job of organizing this show! You guys rocked and were so very nice and accommodating. The talent from all the lovely vendors was breathtaking and I just kept walking around in a daze looking and wanting so many things! Thank you so much for letting me participate!

jungle paradise

I just wanted to share a window that was completed a little while ago. This window finds itself in a lovely lakehouse bathroom.
