My new little project

My new little project, originally uploaded by Amalee.

So....I've been a little busy working hard on my new Gallery! We ( my new business partner Mandy and I) will be opening our doors starting with summer art class for teens, kids and adults in June. We will have a soft opening and then in the Fall kick-off with a grand opening. I'm totally stoked about this adventure and I am even more thrilled that Asheboro will have a new gallery for the local artists. Our location is great because we are housed in an old mill that has been renovated. We are also right beside the Farmer's Market (its in our parking lot), plus beside the most fabulous resturant in town called Timothy's. We could not be more thrilled!

taking turns

I've been taking turns in new directions. I've switched some stuff around and my blog and etsy shop have been put on the back burners. Hopefully this week everything will be in place and I can return back to my glass. I did do a couple of show over the weekend...

I want to thank everyone who visited me at either Art on Sunset or Spring Bada Bing. Everyone was so nice and I truly appreciate all the support! The weekend was long but totally worth the packing, unpacking and driving. Richmond is such a lovely place and I desperately want to go back and explore some more!

The Richmond Craft Mafia did such a fabulous job of organizing this show! You guys rocked and were so very nice and accommodating. The talent from all the lovely vendors was breathtaking and I just kept walking around in a daze looking and wanting so many things! Thank you so much for letting me participate!

jungle paradise

I just wanted to share a window that was completed a little while ago. This window finds itself in a lovely lakehouse bathroom.

Getting ready for spring!

I'm so excited that spring has finally peeked out again and said hello :)

My spring bulbs are starting to pop up and we just purchased two new tulip trees for the front yard (I love the Greensboro Farmer's Market)! I've always loved and wanted a tulip tree since my last visit to California and now I'm just so excited that just don't know what to do with myself. Some of my pansies made it through hurricane charlie and both Jesse and I have plans about this years spring garden that needs to be planted.

I have full intentions to plant a container garden full of herbs up and away from my chewing charlie. Currently he is having too much fun with our Camilla bush and everyday when I get home he has them in his mouth and all over the carport. If I was a hardcore romantic I'd think better of the situation thinking it might be a floral walkway but it just so happens I'm not that at all. He's a hyper little nut.

So with all the spring things happening of course my spring shows have been lining up!
Here's the roll call:

March 22 :: DDM, Raleigh
April 19, :: Art on Sunset, Asheboro
May 3, Handmade Market, Raleigh

Come out and see me :)

last week was sickness and this week comes phases...

last week was really a complete blur to me. I was sick and honestly am still in the recovery process. Today I accidentally took the wrong pill and found myself getting very sleepy at work...a quick hop over to the coffee shop got me back on track and ready to get things accomplished. Yesterday, was the first day that I could actually smell...(I was so happy to be able to smell again) so for me I'm taking huge steps in recovering from "the crud."

I've not managed to get hardly anything that was on my "list to do" done but still somehow have a couple of new pieces. One piece I listed today was actually finished the week before last. I've been meaning to post it but I've been tossing around the idea of keeping it for myself (tempting) but the truth of the matter is that I actually have no room to hang this lovely piece. All of my windows are literally busting at the seems with glass creations. Some windows have multiples hanging on one hook. I guess that it does help since soon they will each have a new home. (soon to be announced) I just love the colors in this particular piece and especially the new lovely vibrant green textured glass. I've been obsessing about long vertical rectangles. Long, tall designs that are vertically out of proportion are major interests to me right now (I've been obsessing with Dali) when I am designing my pieces. I currently have another one of these pieces on my work bench and hopefully will get it all soldered up late tonight when I get home. I feel a another series coming on in my work. It's a mix of "peebles in a stream" and my dali phase. Currently, everything is running in phases right now... right Mandy?
